Folk legend Bert Jansch dies at 67 (AP)

LONDON ? A representative of Bert Jansch says the legendary folk guitarist has died in London after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 67.

Spokesman Mick Houghton said Wednesday that Jansch died early Wednesday morning at the Marie Curie Hospice in north London.

He says Jansch had been hospitalized for nearly seven weeks. He was diagnosed with cancer more than two years ago.

Jansch was a founding member of the British folk group Pentangle and had inspired a generation of rock and folk guitarists with his acoustic mastery. He enjoyed a long solo career and also performed in early August with the recently reformed Pentangle.

Houghton says his final solo performances were opening for Canadian rocker Neil Young earlier this year.
