Activities for the Baby Shower ? Article Xplosion

Now that we?ve planned the baby shower, let?s think of some activities we can enjoy together during the time the shower is being held. There is no hard and fast rule that you must have an activity or game at your shower. Games are loads of fun at any party. Here are some of the typical shower games you can play.
Pin the Bow on the Mother-to-be. You have a big picture of the mother-to-be on a corkboard and a white bow. Blindfold the guests, spin them around a few times, and they try to pin the bow on the mother-to-be.
Pin the Diaper of the Baby. This is very similar to ?Pin the Bow?, but with a big picture of a baby. You can use a man?s white hanky for this one.
Baby Care Manual. Her all the mother?s at the party write out all the suggestions that they think make great mothering. If this is done before hand, you can make it into a great display and keepsake for the mother-to-be.
How I met you. Get everyone in a circle and have each person tell how he/she first met the mother-to-be. Or, a humorous story about the mother-to-be.
Baby Bingo. You can create or purchase cards for this game. Using a five-by-five grid, fill each box with one piece of information. You must have a different card made for each of the guests using about forty common baby-related words, such as binky, pacifier, bottle, bulb syringe, etc. Using the master list of words, write each word on a slip of paper and put it in a large bowl. The ?caller? randomly pulls the words from the bowl. The first guest to get ?bingo? wins.
If you?re not interested in games, here are some activities you might try.
Scrapbook-Making
Scrapbooking is something that almost everyone enjoys. There are scrapbook stores, classes, clubs, web sites, magazines, books and even videos. This is something everyone can do. And, it shouldn?t make a shower budget pricey.
If you?re planning this activity at home, you will need a good size worktable covered for protection from glue, glitter, etc. You?ll need scrapbook supplies?enough for each of your guests to make a page. The finished page will be assembled in a book or binder. One such book I have seen was called, ?the little princess.? Some categories you might consider: home from the hospital, baby?s first smile, places we?ve been, baby?s friends, baby?s family, or gifts received.
Parenting-Advice Book
This is similar to the scrapbook idea, but much more simple. Give each guest a sheet of paper. You can find specialty paper or interesting stationary. After all, this is good, personal advice. Have each guest write a title for their theme. For example, ?How I Potty-Trained Our Son with M&M?s,? and then a byline. Once each guest is done, you could have them share their wisdom with the group. These pages can be collected and professional bound if you wish.
